Project Bookcase: Complete

Remember the bookcase that I declared I would repaint some months back?  The old oak bookcase Nick owned that had seen better days?  You remember...

Orange enough for you?

The repainting project is finally done!  For now, I think.  It was a fair amount of work, but the end result was not too bad for my first furniture project.

Step 1: Sand and clean bookcase

I do like my new palm sander.  It's pretty sweet.

Step 2:  Prime bookcase

Step 3: Paint and place in guest room

Ta-da!

Finished!  I am not delighted with the paint job I did on the backs of the shelves and was thinking about papering them over, but as Nick pointed out, with the bookcase full you can't actually see any of that.  I may stencil the sides...we'll see.

Incidentally, that light green on the right of the picture above is the latest color I put up on the guest room wall.  It's called Hollingsworth Green; still from the Benjamin Moore Historic Collection, but it's a lighter color and I think it won't be quite so overwhelming as Prescott when all of the walls are painted.

  1. I don't know, I kind of like the way the bookshelf looks with the pink.

    1. I can leave a little pink square for you to stare at when you come visit, if you would like.
